Why are shapes so important? No two people look the same and similarly, no two eye shapes are the same. Once you’ve established exactly what your eye shape is, you know what technique to use to achieve the look that’s best for you. Some of the more commonly known eyes shapes are hooded, close-set eyes,wide-set eyes, round eyes, protruding, and the list kind of goes on. There are times you can even have a combination of two or three different of these eyes shapes. So you must know what technique to adapt to achieve your look. To start with, there are three parts of your eye that you need to know which actually define your eye shape.
Its lid, crease, and brow bone.Lid or mobile lid as we call it is the area where you actually do your eye shadow application. Which is this. Now, this part of your skin or your eyes we call it mobile lid because as you blink this part gets visible. When your eyes are open you see a slight crease above the lid that is the crease area and above the crease, you have a slightly bony structure. This is your brow bone. You must know where all of these three are placed so accordingly you do your eye shadow application. Monolith as the name suggests does not have a visible crease area. and that’s the reason why you feel there is just one lid.
There is no difference between the crease and the mobile lid. It’s very important for the monolid eye you create an illusion of a crease which is with a darker matte brown eyeshadow you draw in a crease and create that illusion and then you do your eye shadow application here. Case of a hooded eye, its a very common eye shape actually if you notice around the skin on your brow or your brow bones it starts dropping down and it covers your mobile lid so, in the case of a hooded eye, you have to make sure your eyeshadow application is done higher than the crease area. That way when your eyes are open and when as you blink, the eye shadow shows up. The technique that you use for wide-set eyes is an absolute no-no for the close-set eyes. For a wide set, the eye will always use a slightly darker color on the inside corner of your eye. You can even smoke out or draw in your coal towards the inside corner of the eye that will further close the eyes, and it will bring the eyes to close. In case of a closed set of eyes the name suggests, it’s already too close to the bridge of your nose so you need to take it away. You create this illusion by applying a highlighter or a lighter color on the inside corner of the eye.
Round eyes again as the name suggests your eyes are too round. In such a case you need to create an illusion of an almond shape by bringing out your eyeliner, applying your eye shadows, and using it actually to contour your eyes. In case of a round eye please remember not to tight line too much, and in case you do decide to tight line, wing out your eyeliner. Because if you do a tight line on your lower lashline and your upper line and you are going to further emphasize the roundness of your eye. The protruding eye is actually the opposite of a deep-set eye. In case of a protruding eye, please make sure you never apply a highlighter or a shimmer-based product right on your lid because if you do so it will catch more light and make your eyes appear more protruding. Deep Set Eyes, as the name suggests, your eyes are placed deeper into the socket.
